Headstrong Yuri (Helena Zengel) lives with her father (Willem Dafoe) on a remote island called Carpathia. From an early age, she is taught to be afraid of the island's mysterious animal creatures, the ochi. But when Yuri finds a lonely baby Ochi, she begins to doubt the danger of the creatures. She leaves her home behind to bring the ochi back to its family and experiences the greatest adventure of her life.
