Christopher Nolan's impressive directorial debut ("Oppenheimer") will be re-released in selected cinemas this year.
Exactly 25 years lie between Christopher Nolan's box office hit OPPENHEIMER (nominated for 13 Oscars) and his first work FOLLOWING, which the then literature student made in London with fellow students and acquaintances, a 16mm camera and a budget of just 6,000 dollars. Filming took over a year, as the regular jobs of the cast and crew meant that it was often only possible to shoot on Saturdays. Despite all the adversities, the end result, a small, fine neo-noir thriller, already revealed the enormous talent and preference of the aspiring filmmaker for non-linear storytelling.
In atmospheric, simple black and white images, Nolan tells the story of Bill (Jeremy Theobald), an author suffering from writer's block, who begins to randomly follow strangers on the streets of London in search of inspiration.
